A few weeks ago, my friend Pauline texted me, asking if we’d be marching in this year’s Pride Parade. Normally, my response would have been an immediate and enthusiastic “Yes!” But this year, I hesitated.
With everything happening in our country—the relentless attacks on LGBTQ+ rights, the ongoing efforts to erase anything to do with diversity, equity, and inclusion—I found it hard to feel celebratory. How do you march with joy when so much is at stake?
Some might say, “This is a corgi event—keep politics out of it.” I disagree. Our corgis aren’t just here for cute photos (though they certainly deliver on that). They’re here to show support for the LGBTQ+ community, a community that is under attack by those in power who would rather see it erased. But we won’t be erased.
This year’s San Francisco Pride theme is ‘Queer Joy is Resistance.’ And that is something I can get behind. If marching together—corgis and all—forms an act of resistance, then we will march. We will show up. We will bring the corgis to help the city find joy, because finding joy in the face of oppression is powerful.

I hope you’ll join us as we march for love, for diversity, for equity, for inclusion.
Tickets (including our special commemorative t-shirt) go on sale April 1st—let’s make this year’s march one to remember.
